In order to ensure the continued preservation and protection of the CNMI's wildlife resources, the DFW administers several terrestrial wildlife conservation areas.
On Saipan, there are five protected areas:
- Bird Island Wildlife Conservation Area
- No take of plant or animal species
- Kagman Wildlife Conservation Area
- No take of plant or animal species
- Susupe Wetland
- Costco Park Wetland Mitigation Pond
- Saipan Upland Mitigation Bank
On Rota, there are three protected areas:
- Sabanna Heights
- No takeof plant or animal species
- Wedding Cake
- No takeof plant or animal species
- l'Chenchon Park Bird Sanctuary
- No takeof plant or animal species
